SMU Cox Students Present Teaching Excellence Award to Ed Dawson, CEO of Capital Alliance

Dawson earns award for 40th time (an SMU record) for his seminar “Power Negotiating in Merger & Acquisition Transactions” presented to the Cox School of Business

Dallas, TX, USA (Press Release) – For a record 40th time, the SMU Cox School of Business has awarded Capital Alliance CEO Ed Dawson a Business Leadership Teaching Excellence Award, most recently for his seminar entitled “Power Negotiating in Merger & Acquisition Transactions.” Dawson’s popular interactive class, presented to 65 graduate students on August 22nd, 2011, is part of the Business Leadership Center’s ongoing enrichment program for Cox MBA students.

In his thirty-year tenure as Chairman and CEO of Capital Alliance, Ed Dawson has been internationally hailed as one of the premier negotiators in the world, twice earning the title “Deal Maker of the Year” by M&A International. The author of four books and a contributor to Business Week, Dawson has been the lead dealmaker in over thirty multi-million dollar transactions.

Students rated Dawson’s seminar as a 4.8 or higher out of 5. He is the leading visiting instructor at SMU.

Funded by an endowment from Edwin L. Cox, the charter for the Business Leadership Center is to promote practical, real-world business learning through the insights of prominent national and international leaders. The seminars are designed to complement the rigorous academic requirements of the Cox MBA program, and have proven highly popular among students.
